Lands of America data lists $4 billion in land and rural property for sale in the Land of Milk and Honey. This represents a total of 1.3 million acres of land for sale in the state (accounting for approximately one percent of the state's land). The most expensive piece of land listed for sale on Lands of America recently was $85 million, although the median price for land, ranches and rural property in California was $914,867. The average price of land for sale in California was $2 million. Based on comps submitted through the Lands of America Comparable Sales program in March 2018, California is among the country's top five states for land sold during the month. This reflects a 12 percent increase in sales activity over the previous month, with a combined land value of $63.9 million for all property and land sold in the state.
